Search, Rescue, and First Aid Awareness Program Held on the Anniversary of the Kahramanmaraş Earthquakes

On the second anniversary of the February 6 Kahramanmaraş earthquakes, Entertech Istanbul Teknokent, in collaboration with Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa and Avcılar Municipality, organized the “Search, Rescue, and First Aid Awareness Program in Emergencies.” The program provided participants with training on search and rescue operations and first aid awareness in emergency situations.

As one of Turkey’s most successful technoparks, Entertech Istanbul Teknokent carried out this program to help ensure that society is better prepared for disasters. The event took place at the Avcılar Municipality Applied Solutions and Innovation Center and was attended by Prof. Dr. Erol İnce, Vice Rector of Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa; Utku Caner Çaykara, Mayor of Avcılar; and Dr. Muhammed Kasapoğlu, General Manager of Entertech Istanbul Teknokent. Students from Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa, personnel from Avcılar Municipality, and Entertech employees also participated.

During the program, participants received training on search and rescue and first aid awareness in emergency situations. In addition, earthquake and first aid simulation exercises provided hands-on experience, teaching participants how to respond effectively during a real earthquake.

“Raising awareness in disaster response is essential”

Speaking at the event, Entertech Istanbul Teknokent General Manager Dr. Muhammed Kasapoğlu stated:

“In times of disaster, the presence of calm, conscious, and knowledgeable individuals is crucial for ensuring that processes are carried out more quickly and effectively. Since we live in a region classified as an earthquake zone, I believe it is vital for as many people as possible to be aware of search and rescue operations and first aid practices in emergency situations. Holding this awareness program on the anniversary of the February 6 Kahramanmaraş earthquakes is very meaningful in this regard. We sincerely hope our country never faces such disasters again. May God have mercy on those who lost their lives in past tragedies, and may He grant patience to their loved ones.”
