IP in Gaming: The Importance of Intellectual Property Event
Organized by Entertech Istanbul Technopolis to help companies operating in the gamingindustry increase their trademark, patent, and design outputs and raise awareness of intellectual property rights to the highest level, the “IP in Gaming: The Importance of Intellectual Property” event was recently held at the Entertech Maslak EntrepreneurshipOffice. Bringing together gaming studios and intellectual property professionals from acrossthe ecosystem, the event addressed some of the industry’s most critical legal and strategicissues.

Following the opening remarks, the program continued with the day’s highly anticipated main session, the “IP in Gaming: The Importance of Intellectual Property” panel. Moderated by Patent Effect Co-Founder Mustafa Çakır, the panel featured Ekrem Soylu, Co-Founder of Soylu Patent and Turkish and European Patent Attorney; Hande Hançar, Partner at Gün + Partners; Burak Tezateşer, Founder of Nowhere Studios; and Baturhan Gürbüz, Director of Start-Up Programs at Lorien Accelerator.
Throughout the panel, key issues faced by gaming studios—including intellectual propertychallenges, trademark registration processes, patent strategies, and the protection of originaldesigns in global markets—were discussed in depth. The experts shared valuable insights intocommercialization and protection mechanisms in the gaming industry, offering perspectivesfrom both legal and entrepreneurial standpoints. Following the session, participants had theopportunity to ask their questions directly to leading figures in the industry during the Q&A session.

The event once again highlighted the steps that need to be taken to enable locally developedgames to move forward with greater confidence and strength on the global stage.
